France – Work to start in Autumn on new Cabourg casino

Construction will start in the Autumn on a new, relocated casino in the French city of Cabourg in Calvados with the aim of opening in 2025 at a cost of €8.7m.

The casino has been located on the seafront since 1909, tbut is about to begin the move to the entrance to Cabourg, right next to where a future water park is being built. The mayor of the city Tristan Duval revealed that the casino will cover 2,000 m² and will be built on a plot of 11,000 m². It will be integrated into a green space, supplemented by an enlarged car park with 146 spaces, with electric charging.

On June 7, 2022, the elected officials of Cabourg renewed the Partouche group’s public service concession for 12 years, after a first failure in October 2021, but with prices revised upwards. Thus, the rent since November 2022 has increased from €100,000 per year to €580,000, in order to finance the future building, the municipal levy on the gross proceeds from games at 15 per cent (compared to 10 per cent) and the casino’s participation in activities cultural activities of the city was increased to €350,000 against €115,000 previously. The town hall also intends to rehabilitate the Italian-style theater of the old casino to make it a performance hall and a convention center, with up to 600 seats, by 2026.
