Germany – Bad Füssing has its casino licence renewed for another ten years

By - 20 April 2023

Bad Füssing, the only casino in Lower Bavaria and one of only nine in Bavaria, has had its licence extended for another ten years.

Bad Füssing’s mayor Tobias Kurz said: “We want to continue this success story together. The casino is a great asset for Bad Füssing. We are pleased to be able to lead this good cooperation reliably and on a firm foundation into the future.”

Since its opening in 1999, the casino has welcomed around 80,000 guests and locals every year. The new lease will run until the end of 2032.

Following added competition from casinos on the Bavarian-Czech border, the affects of the smoking ban, and of course the COVID pandemic, the number of visitors is rising again. Last year was the most successful year for the casino since 2007. Last year, the hotel registered 74,708 guests.

According to Bad Füssingen treasurer Lothar Gottschaller, around €1.2m remained in the municipal budget in 2022 alone via the casino levy.
