Germany – ECA awards first responsible gaming certificate to Baden-Württembergische Spielbanken

By - 21 May 2018

German casino operator Baden-Wuerttembergische Spielbanken has been honoured for its player protection management and social concept, becoming the first casino group in Europe to receive the Responsible Gaming Certificate issued by the European Casino Association (ECA), issued according to 2018 guidelines.

The casinos located in Stuttgart, Baden-Baden and Constance were praised for their player safety management systems by Professor Jörg Häfeli, the lead Auditor and Silvia Brecht, auditor for player protection.

Otto Wulferding, Managing Director of Baden-Württembergische Spielbanken said: “The ECA awards the certificate exclusively to casinos that not only formulate guidelines for responsible gambling, but also implement them into daily gambling. The audit builds on this: in practice, it checks how the player protection is practiced by the employees in everyday gaming – and how the individual player can achieve and benefit from this player protection.”

Professor Jörg Häfeli added: “One of the great strengths of player protection at BW Spielbanken GmbH & Co. KG is the matter of course with which the subject of player protection belongs to the field of activity of BW Spielbanken. It is anchored in the corporate culture and is valued at all levels of the hierarchy.”

Mr. Wulferding added: “The corporate philosophy of Baden-Württembergische Spielbanken also includes player protection management. It is one of the brand values that sets us apart from other formats, especially the online game. Player protection and our social concept are the basis of our understanding of product responsibility. It ensures responsible gaming and is our way of translating corporate social responsibility in practice – at all levels. With our player protection management, we not only achieve social acceptance of the licensed gambling in our casinos but also a form of respect from the player.”
