Germany – German Lotto and Totoblock welcome agreement on new State Treaty on Gaming

By - 24 January 2020

The 16 member companies of the German Lotto and Totoblocks (DLTB) have welcomed the agreement of the 16 countries on a new gaming treaty.

“We see the new regulation as a further confirmation of the lottery monopoly in Germany that is oriented towards the common good and expect that regulation in the online area will suppress the illegal market,” said Jürgen Häfner, managing director of the block company Lotto Rheinland-Pfalz, which is currently responsible for the DLTB .

The DLTB also said it welcomes the will of the federal states to bundle enforcement in the future through a central institution under public law. “This enables an even clearer approach to be taken against illegal gambling providers,” said the Lotto managing director.

The DLTB is positive that all 16 countries have agreed on the new State Treaty on gaming. “With this future-oriented agreement, the federal states have underlined that the federal system works very well in Germany,” Mr. Häfner added. “The German Lotto and Totoblock will participate constructively in the further consultations.”
