Germany – HPYBET lands land-based and online sports betting licence

By - 13 October 2020

HPYBET has become one of the first companies to receive a sports betting license in Germany. For the young sports betting provider, the successful completion of the licensing is an important milestone in the company’s history.

HPYBET submitted the license application to the Darmstadt regional council in January 2020 and has been awarded with a licence for both the online and retail sectors.

Michael Lessig, CEO at HPYBET Germany, said: “This is a big and important milestone in our still young history. Right from the start, we committed ourselves to fair competition with clear rules of the game, comprehensive compliance requirements and high player protection standards. The granting of the license is confirmation of the development work that we have done with a strong and loyal team since 2017. We are therefore pleased about this step and looking forward to further growth in a regulated market.”

“So far we have mastered the difficult year 2020 well and can now strengthen our market position thanks to a license and the support of the Playtech Group. In 2021 we are not only expecting a super sports year, but will also come up with some innovations and new products on the market, so that we can see the best prospects for the future.”

Imam Elci, Sales Director in Germany, added: “A very special thank you also goes to our loyal partners, whom we will continue to support with full commitment and who can look forward to a new, even better HPYBET.”
