Germany – Merkur Casino Halle opens in time for Christmas

By - 20 December 2018

The Merkur Casino Halle in the German region of Saale opened on December 18 2018.

The casino offers a mix of slot machines, a bar and a lounge area to relax and entertain. Merkur Spielbank Halle is operated by Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture of the East Westphalian Gauselmann Group and the Swiss Stadtcasino Baden AG. The casinois located in the historic premises in Franckestraße 1 and covers a total area of 800 square meters, of which 340 are used as a gaming floor. The design concept bears the name Carmel, named after the eponymous town in California and takes up the colours and shapes of the coastal town. A total of E4.5m were invested in the new location.

Marcus Brandenburg, Director of the casino, said: “We are thrilled to see how all the people involved in the construction have managed to complete the casino in such a short time and are pleased that we were able to actually open this year. The official opening will take place in February 2019.”

Among the 84 slots in operation is the M-BOX TRIO from Gauselmann. Halle (Saale) is the third location of Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt after Leuna-Günthersdorf, which opened in 2014 and Magdeburg, which opened in 2016. Unlike their two older sisters, the Hallenser casino is a pure slot machine casino. The entertainment offer is however – as at all locations of the Merkur casino – varied with a total a jackpot systems, 3D games, electronic roulette and blackjack variants and of course the latest Gomato products from Gauselmann.

The Merkur Casino in Halle is managed by Tobias Hellbach. The 36-year-old has been part of the team since opening the first Merkur casino in Leuna-Günthersdorf. In 2016 he moved to the location in Magdeburg, where he most recently worked as deputy casino manager.

“Tobias Hellbach is the perfect cast as a casino manager. He knows all about the industry as well as Merkur Spielbanken Sachsen-Anhalt,” explained Mr. Brandenburg.

“The work here is just a lot of fun for me. I’m really looking forward to my new challenge,” Mr. Hellbach added.
