Germany – Spielbank Berlin to reopen on June 2 after corona lockdown

By - 31 May 2020

Following corona-closures for almost three months, the casino locations of Spielbank Berlin will reopen on June 2 with their own hygiene and security concept.

It will open branches at Potsdamer Platz, Alexanderplatz, Los-Angeles-Platz and Ellipse Spandau.

Managing Director Gerhard Wilhelm said: “Health protection for our guests and employees is a top priority. With our hygiene and safety concept, we can guarantee safe play operations. Due to the prevailing prevention requirements, the range of games is only available to a limited extent, but we are convinced that we can still offer our guests an entertaining gaming experience.”

The SARS takes into account the hygiene and safety concept specially developed by Spielbank Berlin-Cov-2 occupational safety standard of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and was created in close coordination with the responsible specialist for occupational safety and the company doctor. Which areas of the casinos will be reopened to guests from this point on will now largely depend on the new Corona Protection Ordinance of the State of Berlin. These requirements include compliance with the minimum distance requirements, the regular and intensive cleaning of all slot machines, gaming equipment and all relevant areas, as well as the provision of mouth-nose covers and disinfectants.

More than 550 employees of the Spielbank Berlin were comprehensively trained and prepared as best as possible for the new gaming operations.

“Given the corona pandemic, normal operation is currently not entirely possible,” Mr. Wilhel added. “However, we are certain that if the course of infection is positive, we can gradually expand the range and, if necessary, loosen further regulations.”
