Germany – Spielbanken Niedersachsen will have to relocate Bad Harzburg licence

By - 13 January 2020

Spielbanken Niedersachsen GmbH wants to relocate its licence for the Bad Harzburg casino to the Bohlweg, a central street in the city center of Braunschweig, with an opening scheduled for June 2021.

Whilst nothing is set in stone with regards to the future location, Anja Sohr, general manager of the casino, confirmed it is the end of the road for the Bad Harzburg casino: “Our rental agreement in Bad Harzburg expires on June 30, 2021,” she said. “It definitely cannot be extended.

The favoured location for the move is the former porcelain shop Reinicke & Richau. City counsellors will decide on the relocation by March. It offers floor space of around 1,000 square meters.

By comparison, Bad Harzburg is a historic spa town on the edge of the Harz National Park. Its elegant casino is located in the spa gardens, offers 103 slot machines, a 12-terminal Multi-Roulette station and two American Roulette tables.

Spielbanken Niedersachsen, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Casinos Austria International, operates ten casinos in Lower Saxony.
