Germany – Westspiel expands its hygiene and protection concept to include corona self-tests

By - 19 April 2021

With its motto ‘Health is not a matter of luck,’ the management of Germany’s Westspiel has campaigned for high health standards in the workplace even before the pandemic and in March launched free self-tests for all employees.

In addition to the operational test options, extended home office regulations and a strict mask requirement in the office and social rooms are part of everyday life at Westspiel.

Managing Director Jochen Braun said: “The recently approved corona self-tests are an important element for us. An effective hygiene concept that has been in place for over a year and is constantly being adapted to new findings guarantees our employees a safer workplace.”

Since last year, Westspiel has been implementing far-reaching regulations for mobile working. The administrative staff work from home as often as possible. Wstspiel provided its employees with extensive IT equipment for work at home last year. As an in-house survey shows, they are accepting the offer very well. All administrative employees regularly work from home. It is a very well structured and future-oriented system that has become established.

Georg Lucht, management spokesman at Westspiel, added: “The consistent focus on mobile working is a very good instrument for restricting contacts. In addition, employees are encouraged to carry out the self-tests that are now available in order to identify and prevent potential infections at an early stage. Westspiel makes these available to its employees free of charge.”

“Testing is an important addition to our previous occupational safety measures. It is another component to which we are adding to our hygiene and protection concept. In this way we can ensure an even higher level of security,” added Mr. Braun

In the premises of the company headquarters and the administration at the locations, specially developed hygiene concepts apply. Online meetings are an important factor here. The colleagues who are on site benefit from additionally purchased room air purification systems in order to guarantee the best possible protection.

“The list of possible steps to combat the pandemic is long. We are convinced that with our measures we are making a significant contribution to preventing the virus from spreading in the workplace,” added Mr. Lucht. “It is our responsibility to protect our colleagues. In addition, as a company, we also have a social obligation to do everything in our power to fight the pandemic.”

The company is also initiating important preparations for the reopening of the casinos. Not only the employees in the administration benefit from a comprehensive hygiene concept. Casino visitors and employees in the casinos can also crest safe in the knowledge that they are coming back to a safe environment.

“We don’t leave anything to chance. With our hygiene concept after the reopening in summer 2020, we were able to show that it is possible to play safely without the risk of infection. At the same time, the positive feedback has shown us that we have chosen the right path. We continue to do this with small adjustments based on new experience and standards,” mr. Braun added.
