Gibraltar – Novomatic buys Gala’s Gibraltar casino

Novomatic Group has bought Gibraltar’s casino from Gala Coral Group, finalising the British betting group’s exit from the casino sector.
Gryphon, a Swiss subsidiary of Austria’s Novomatic Group, will take over the operation in Ocean Village.
The Gibraltar casino was Gala Coral’s last remaining casino asset after 19 casinos were sold to the Rank Group in May 2013 and the remaining four UK casinos were sold to Double Diamond Gaming Limited earlier this month.
A spokesperson at Gala said: “The transaction is another successful step towards streamlining our retail business and is a continuation of our strategy to focus on growing our core operations. Gryphon, based in Switzerland, is a large international gaming company, with a proven track record of operating high quality casinos in Europe and internationally.”
