Goa – Goa Government drafting policy for airport casino zone

By - 27 February 2018

The government in Goa is piecing together a draft policy, which could see Goa’s casino industry relocate to an entertainment zone near a future airport.

Public Works Development Sudin Dhavalikar said to the Goa Legislative Assembly: “On casinos, we have made a policy, where land has been given for an entertainment zone near the airport. We are making a policy. Whether they will shift their operations there or not will be decided later.”

The international greenfield airport is being built at Mopa plateau in North Goa, some 40 km from Panaji. There are currently six offshore and nine onshore casinos operating in the state.
