Greece – Icahn Enterprises linked to Greek casino opportunities

Trump Entertainment, a casino subsidiary of Icahn Enterprises, has been linked with two casino opportunities in Greece by the local media.

Reports out of the country have suggested the Greek government has approved a new casino licence for the owners of the former Ellinikon international airport site, which is being converted into a leisure complex.

Journalists in Greece have reported that a 45-floor integrated casino resort that will be built facing the marina as part of an €8bn project.

Lamda Development is overseeing the development of hotel at the site with Hellinikon Global in charge of the construction. It will include shops, offices, sports and conference facilities, luxury hotels, theme parks, museums, malls, cultural venues, health centres, educational and research facilities and of course the marina.Icahn Enterprises, who also owns Tropicana Entertainment with casinos in Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada and Missouri, has also been linked to a potential purchase of Club Hotel Casino in Loutraki, currently owned by Israeli company Queenco Leisure. French operator Groupe Partouche reportedly lodged an interest in the Loutraki casino in May.
