Sixteen influencers have filmed a public awareness video as part of a settlement agreement for promoting illegal online gambling on their social media platforms. The agreement was made with the Attorney General of the City, Juan Bautista Mahiques.

The figures involved in this campaign were charged with promoting and attracting gamblers through advertisements for clandestine gambling platforms on their public profiles. For this reason, the influencers agreed with the Justice system to lend their images to raise awareness about the dangers of illegal online betting. Ex model and tv host Wanda Nara and musician L-Gante amongst others appear in the video.

So far, 27 influencers have signed an agreement that entails filming a video in which they use their image to warn about the dangers of illegal betting.

The agreements involve three specific commitments. The first is to record a video warning about the dangers of illegal gambling. The second is to share it in their stories for three days and keep related content visible on their profiles for a month regarding the risks of gambling addiction. The third is to complete a mandatory awareness course provided by the City Lottery LOTBA S.E.

The Attorney General of Buenos Aires City, Juan Bautista Mahiques, explained the reasons for reaching this agreement: “It was deemed appropriate for the influencers to repair the damage done through the same medium where it was caused. So, just as they promoted illegal betting sites on their social media, leveraging their public image and influence, it was fitting that the symbolic repair also be conducted through that same medium, but this time to raise awareness about the risks associated with illegal betting,” he said.
