Japan – Kazuo Okada launches giveaway campaign on social media

By - 18 March 2019

Kazuo Okada, the former Chairman of pachislot manufacturer Universal Entertainment, has launched a YouTube and Twitter campaign offering followers a US$890,000 giveaway, aiming at garnering support to regain his position at Universal.

Okada’s Twitter followers have reached 4,000 in just a few days whilst his first YouTube video was viewed 7,100 times.

The self-proclaimed Casino King of Japan said in one of the videos: “You probably don’t know me. I started with nothing nearly 50 years ago. There is a reason I’m here. I’ve been removed from my position as chairman of the company that I founded and was running. This is extremely offensive.”

He ends with the defiant message ‘I will be back’ and the promise of a gift of HK$7m to one of his followers if he is reinstated.

Universal replied with a simple statement: “We have nothing to say. To put it bluntly, there is zero possibility of Kazuo Okada being reinstated.”
