Japan – Mitsui Fudosan, Fuji Media and Kajima submit Odaiba proposal

By - 15 November 2013

Three of Japan’s biggest companies have joined forces in the hope of landing the chance to develop a casino complex in Tokyo.

Property developer Mitsui Fudosan is partnering with media company Fuji Media Holdings and construction company Kajima Corp in the hope of developing a hotel, casino in Odaiba, near Tokyo Bay should the government legalise casino gaming.

Masatoshi Satou, Mitsui Fudosan’s Managing Officer, said: “Our role in this project would be to get involved and make a contribution to help Tokyo become a more attractive city. But it is totally up to what happens to the bill and the direction of the government.”

The trio of companies have submitted plans to government but are not revealing much publically at this stage.

MGM Resorts International, Las Vegas Sands Corp, Melco Crown Entertainment and Wynn Resorts have all expressed interest in the market should it open.
