Malaysia – Resorts World Genting to reopen Malaysian resort casino

By - 18 June 2020

Resorts World Genting (RWG), the mountain top resort casino in Malaysia, will reopen at 10am on Friday, 19 June 2020 with enhanced safety measures in place to ensure the health and safety of all guests and employees.

Due to limited capacity, entry into SkyCasino at SkyAvenue and Genting Club at Genting Grand Hotel will be for Genting Rewards members only. Public entry into the casino will resume as soon as possible. The operator said that the Awana Skyway cable car and Genting express buses will also resume operations.

“We have re-engineered our processes and developed a comprehensive safety plan in line with the government’s guidelines and global best practices,” Genting stated. “The RWG StaySafe Promise outlines our enhanced safety plan for the resort. The protocols cover social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes, as well as the deployment of service ambassadors among others. Service ambassadors are specially trained customer-facing employees who will assist and guide returning guests on our enhanced safety measures. We have implemented MySejahtera Check-In at all our primary entrances and outlets throughout the resort.

Genting had already operated reopened non-gaming properties such as Resorts World Kijal and Resorts World Langkawi.

Analysts Tushar Mohata and Alpa Aggarwal from brokerage Nomura said: “We believe that with more than 70 per cent of visitors to Genting Highlands being locals, some pent-up demand could return now as the resort resumes operations despite closed international borders.”
