New Zealand – SkyCity to reopen Hamilton and Queenstown casinos

By - 7 September 2021

SkyCity Entertainment expects to reopen its casino and entertainment facilities in Hamilton and Queenstown from September 8 2021, following an announcement by the New Zealand Government on that the COVID-19 Alert Level for New Zealand, excluding Auckland, will move to Alert Level 2 from September 7 2021.

SkyCity will reopen its Hamilton and Queenstown properties in a staged manner and with additional health and safety measures in place to reflect the Ministry of Health’s latest recommendations and guidelines for operating at Alert Level 2. Up to date opening times are available on the SkyCity website at www.skvcitv.co.nz.

In Queenstown, whilst the larger SkyCity Queenstown property is expected to reopen from September 8 2021, the smaller Wharf Casino property remains closed as the ongoing border restrictions continue to have a detrimental effect on the local Queenstown economy in particular, which is largely dependent on tourism. The SkyCity Auckland property continues to remain closed whilst Auckland remains at COVID-19 Alert Level 4. SkyCity’s businesses outside of New Zealand, SkyCity Adelaide and SkyCity Online Casino, are unaffected by the latest restrictions in New Zealand. SkyCity Adelaide remains open with physical distancing and hygiene requirements already in place
