Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco along with the board of directors, have submitted their courtesy resignations to the country’s President.

The move follows Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr calling for a ‘bold reset’ following the 2025 midterm elections. The President called for the courtesy resignation of all his Cabinet members.

President Marcos said: “The people have spoken, and they expect results, not politics, not excuses. We hear them, and we will act. This is not about personalities, it’s about performance, alignment, and urgency. Those who have delivered, and continue to deliver will be recognised. But we cannot afford to be complacent. The time for comfort zones is over.”

Those who voluntarily stepped down included PAGCOR President and CEO Wilma Eisma and directors Jose Maria Ortega, Francis Democrito Concordia and Gilbert Cesar Remulla.

PAGCOR said the development ‘came even before the Palace called on all officials of government-owned or controlled corporations to submit their courtesy resignations.’

Mr Tengo said: “I had filed my courtesy resignation together with the entire PAGCOR Board. We all serve at the pleasure of the President. All the members of the agency’s Board of Directors tendered their courtesy resignations last week to give the President a free hand in reorganizing the bureaucracy.”

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had said the public was ‘tired of politics and are disappointed with the government.’

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the courtesy resignations would be evaluated as part of the government’s ongoing reset of government positions.

Last year, PAGCOR generated a net income of P16.76bn, up 146 per cent from P6.81bn in 2023
