By - 13 March 2020

The National Gambling Commission (CONAJZAR) has urged casino owners to abide by the Executive’s order to suspend the activities of gaming centres for 15 days. “We trust that the sector will assume the commitment to greater social responsibility,” the board said in a statement.

The suspension was issued by Health Minister Julio Mazzoleni in a televised address. It goes to all owners and representatives of casinos, game rooms and other venues where people can meet in large numbers and affects private and public educational institutions, concerts and football matches amongst other mass events and will be in effect for 15 days.

There are five confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country, two of the patients are at home, three of these are at boarding schools, and two of the patients are currently in intensive care.
