Philippines – Okada Manila approved to launch online gaming site

By - 28 April 2021

Universal Entertainment’s subsidiary Tiger Resort, Leisure & Entertainment, the operating company for the Okada Manila integrated resort facility in the Philippines, has received approval from PAGCOR (Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation) to enter into online gaming on April 19.

The system is scheduled to go into operation after clearing various conditions, such as confirmation of compliance with casino regulations and test simulations, including proper collection of casino license fees and the anti-money laundering.

A spokesperson said: “The Company group considers this online gaming as the first step, and will continue to develop online sports betting gaming using its proprietary technology.”

Angeline Papica-Entienza, Assistant Vice President of Pagcor’s Gaming Licensing and Development Department, said: “In its meeting on April 15, the PAGCOR Board of Directors, 2021, approved Tiger’s request to conduct online gaming of Table Games and EGMs at Okada Manila. The system must be capable of being audited for proper determination of Taxes/License Fees. The system must be able to prevent minors/banned persons from playing. There should be no proliferation of online /remote gaming. The system must be able to include other safeguards such as prevention of money laundering and enforcement of responsible gaming.”
