Thunderbird Resort is to invest P563m on expanding its existing casino and hotel business inside the Poro Point Freeport Zone to help drive tourism in Northern Luzon.
It will add another 1,000 square meters to its existing 2,000 square meter casino floor along with a three-storey, 51-room hotel to cater for an increase in foreign and domestic tourist arrivals.
Sean Thompson, chief gaming officer, said the P348m gaming floor renovation along with the P215m development of the hotel and villas will be completed within the year.
“The growth opportunities in Poro Point and San Fernando City are enumerable considering that we strategically located at the heart of Northern Luzon,” he said. “We are happy that our guests our satisfied, and that they frequently book for another visit.”
Thompson said Thunderbird Resorts has invested at least P1.24bn on infrastructure at the resort including developing a 9-hole golf course and setting aside P490m for developing VIP accommodation.
Thunderbird started operations in Binangonan, Rizal, followed by Poro Point to gain a foothold in the Southeast Asian market.
