Portugal – Estoril Sol interested in future Brazilian casino market
By Phil - 14 March 2019The President of Portuguese casino operator Estoril-Sol Mario Assis Ferreira has confirmed it would be interested in any future Brazilian gambling market, which he believes has the potential to be the largest in the world in relation to sports betting.
He said he was watching the development of the country’s potential liberalisation of gaming and betting with a keen eye due to the high number of Brazilians who visit Estoril-Sol’s casinos; the Grand Lisboa, Povoa de Varzim and Estoril every year. He added that there were many Brazilians living in Portugal and because of the company’s exposure to them the company would be interested in developing a casino there. He highlighted São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espirito Santo, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre and Recife as being the best cities to host a casino due to their population and economic potential.
Last year Estoril Sol last year distributed €2.706m in gaming prizes, which it said was a record for the company. Last year it recorded GGR of €196.8m, up 2.4 per cent year-on-year.
