More than 300 companies and influencers promoting online gambling are set to be notified by the government of Rio de Janeiro. Among the recipients will be all of the influencers who attended the Senate’s CPI (Parliamentary Inquiry Commission) on Betting.

According to reports, upon receiving the notification, the individuals will have 10 days to prove that they have taken measures that comply with legal requirements protecting consumers.

The actions will be initiated by the consumer protection agency for the state of Rio de Janeiro, Procon-RJ. Additionally, the notifications will demand adjustments such as providing clear information about services, protecting minors and vulnerable individuals, implementing mechanisms to prevent over-indebtedness, responsible advertising, and effective customer service channels.

According to the government, failure to comply with these requirements may result in the initiation of administrative proceedings and the imposition of fines. As stated in the notification, in addition to influencers, various betting houses, radio and television broadcasters, advertising agencies, and technology companies are also among those expected to receive the notification.

Members of the  Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPI) on Betting rejected the final report from Senator Soraya Thronicke earlier this month. The vote was four against three in favour of the text. As a result, the committee’s activities were concluded without any measures to be adopted. Thronicke stated that, despite the rejection, she would deliver the documents to authorities in her capacity as a senator.
