Rio de Janeiro welcomes Caesars Sportsbook
By James - 2 September 2024BIG Brazil a licensee of Caesars Sportsbook announced that it had received a Loterj license to operate in Rio de Janeiro.
The CEO of Caesars Sportsbook Brazil, André Feldman, said: “We are very happy to start operating in the country, especially in Rio de Janeiro, a state with a strong tradition in the gaming sector and the biggest showcase of Brazil abroad.
“BIG Brazil, through Caesars Sportsbook, will bring experience, credibility, and respect for the consumer, with a platform focused on entertainment and responsible gaming. From Las Vegas to Brazil. It’s not just betting; it’s Vegas in Brazil,” Feldman said.
The president of LOTERJ, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, welcomed the arrival of the world’s largest and most important gaming brand to Rio. “We are very pleased with Caesars’ and BIG Brazil’s decision to invest in Rio de Janeiro. Their accreditation is an incentive for other companies in the sector to follow the same path and regularize their operations in the state.”
Hazenclever Cançado also emphasized Rio’s market appeal: “We are the second-largest GDP in the country and the third-largest population. If Brazil is the ‘crown of gaming’ in the world, Rio de Janeiro is the jewel of the crown. We have 17 million inhabitants, more than the population of many European countries.”
BIG Brazil was approved in the Proof of Concept (PoC) at the end of July when it presented the platform’s functionalities for the operation of fixed-odds betting and online casino.
Feldman added that the company’s goal is now to expand operations to all cities in the state of Rio de Janeiro and eventually throughout the country.
“BIG Brazil/Caesars Sportsbook has also applied for a federal license. The Rio de Janeiro operation will be the Group’s calling card for national operations, which are expected to begin in 2025,” Feldman said.
