Russian police have recently closed a further 36 illegal casinos in Moscow and the Moscow Region, seizing almost 500 slot machines along the way.
The Interior Ministry’s press centre said: “Officials from the Interior Ministry’s Main Economic Security Department carried out a set of operations eliminating 36 illegal gambling clubs in Moscow and in the cities of Pushkino, Shchyolkovo, Korolyov, Podolsk, Khimki, Balashikha, Reutov, Mozhaisk, Noginsk and Ivanteyevka. The police seized over 440 gambling machines, seven poker tables, 26 gambling machines accepting bills, and over 1 million rubles. In addition, operatives from the Main Economic Security Department with support from the Rys unit have closed a casino located in an old mansion in central Moscow. The materials that have been collected have been sent to the investigators, who will make a decision on them.”
Illegal casinos had been set up below restaurants and Internet cafes as well as in apartments.
