Russia – Roskomnadzor blocks 1,882 Russian facing gambling sites in one week

Russia’s crackdown on illegal online gaming sites is in full swing with the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, known as Roskomnadzor, saying it had blocked 1,882 gambling sites in one week.

The1882 sites were blocked from April 8 to April 14 and were comprised of 806 online casinos, online lotteries or Internet poker rooms. With 298 blocked domains, Fonbet, the country’s largest sportsbook operator, had the most blocked sites. There were also 146 blocked mirror sites of Parimatch, 94 sites copying BC Leonbets, 82 sites that mirrored Marathonbet, and 61 mirror sites of Zenitbet.

Despite not offering gambling content, another 172 websites were blocked in the period April 8 to April 14 due to them publishing information on bookmakers, casinos, gambling machines, and sweepstakes.
Roskomnadzor blocked 62,734 gambling sites in 2017.
