Saipan – Imperial Pacific given green light to open gaming floor before hotel

By - 30 June 2017

Imperial Pacific Resort, the permanent casino resort being built in Saipan, will open its gaming floor by July 15 despite not having opened its 250 room hotel as was previously set out in its terms and conditions.

The island’s Commonwealth Casino Commission has amended the particular details governing this point in the casino license agreement to allow the licensee to transfer the gaming operations from the temporary Best Sunshine Live casino at the T Galleria shopping mall to the new casino facility in Garapan saying the change was in the best interests of the CNMI and the licensee.

Commission Vice Chairman Joseph Reyes said: “They have been granted conditional approval already, so they can proceed with their next plan. The licensee has complied with all our requests, and the agreement has been signed by the AG and all parties concerned, so it’s now time to give them the green light.”

The temporary venue hit the headlines last year when its VIP table games rolling chip reached US$32.4bn, making it one of the top earning casinos in the world.

The permanent casino, being designed by Steelman Partners, will boast 300 gaming tables and up to 400 slots.
