South Korea – Kangwon Land delays plans to reopen its main gaming floor

By - 28 May 2020

South Korean casino Kangwon Land has been forced to cancel its plans to reopen its main gaming floor following a surge in new cases of coronavirus throughout South Korea.

The casino opened its VIP floor on May 8 and had planned to open parts of its main gaming floor as part of a ‘pilot operation,’ but has now said it is adhering to an ’emergency suspension’ following advice from national authorities.

The VIP areas have been applying social distancing measures of a one meter distance between players, sneeze guards at gaming tables and mandatory face masks.

With 40 new cases in the last 24 hours, the highest spike in over 50 days, the decision has been made not to proceed with the opening of the main floor at this stage.
