Spain – Elysium City classified as a Great Leisure Facility

By - 7 January 2021

City Councillors in Castilblanco, a municipality located in the province of Badajoz, have classified the planned casino resort of Elysium City in Castilblanco as a Great Leisure Facility.

The casino resort, which will be based on Greek mythology will be ‘a themed leisure park for families, which includes the construction of a Casino Hotel, five, four and three star hotels, shops, a golf course, three marinas, residences, a heliport, as well as a data center, since everything will be based around 5G technology.’

Cora Alpha the US company backing the casino resort being planned for Extremadura must present its final plans in the next six months for the Junta de Extremadura to give it its final approval.

The municipal authorities believe the project will ‘initiate a process of radical change in the demographic trend.’

A spokesperson for the Castilblanco City Council said: “We are sure that, given the viability and certainty of the project, the administrations will do everything in their power so that the communication channels improve our connection with the rest of the State.”

The project is likely to cost €13,700m and is hoping to attract 3m visitors in its first year of operation and create 6,000 jobs. It will have a stadium with a capacity for 40,000 spectators (20,000 in the first phase), and a residential area with 2,000 family units (expandable to 2,500).”
Cora Global has already received approval from the Extremadura government.
