Sweden – Casino Cosmopol to retrain staff as health care workers

Swedish operator Svenska Spel is to help furloughed staff at its four Casino Cosmopol venues to retrain as healthcare workers to find work during the coronavirus pandemic.
The operator is partnering with Skill Shift Initiative (Beredskapslyftet) to offer 20 guaranteed places for Casino Cosmopol employees to undertake intensive carer training and then be offered temporary work in health care in Stockholm.
Casino Cosmopol’s Stockholm casino manager, Thérèse Liljeqvist, said: “I am really proud that we at Casino Cosmopol can contribute to social benefit in the difficult situation we are in; it is important that all good forces work together now. I really believe that at Casino Cosmopol, with our service attitude, the habit of working all hours of the day and our professionalism, can make a big difference to many people in health and social care.”
All four Casino Cosmopol properties were closed at the end of March with Svenska Spel furloughing 800 of its 900 members of staff.
