Casino Neuchâtel, in the French-speaking capital of the Swiss canton Neuchâtel, has obtained an online gaming license from the country’s Federal Gaming Board (ESBK), making it the ninth casino to be approved so far.
The license was awarded following an ESBK board meeting on November 25 and means that the Neuchâtel casino can begin preparations for the launch of its online casino and online poker.
The Swiss igaming market opened in July last year, with operators generating CHF 23.5 million in the first six months of operation, although this was limited to four brands.
The market has since expanded with three more now licensed locations. Casinos Austria International’s Casino Interlaken launched igaming under the StarVegas.ch domain in February, followed by Grand Casino Bern at 7Melons.ch in September. A third Casinos Austria International property, Casinò Lugano, has secured the igaming license, but has not yet launched. Groupe Partouche launched with Pasino.ch, a site licensed through Casino du Lac in Meyrin, earlier this month.
