Switzerland – Grand Casino Lucerne and online arm mycasino secure the highest-grossing casino in Switzerland

Kursaal-Casino AG Luzern, the holding company of the Grand Casino Luzern Group, has said it can look back on a ‘very pleasing financial year,’ in which the Grand Casino in Lucerne and the online casino mycasino together formed the highest-grossing casino in Switzerland.
Chairman of the Board of Directors Guido Egli, CEO Wolfgang Bliem and CFO Rudolf Widmer presented the highlights of 2022 to the Annual General Meeting, detailing how gross gaming revenue rose by 20 per cent to over CHF 111m. Annual profit tripled to CHF 1.3m. Last year, the Grand Casino Lucerne paid a casino levy of CHF 53.29m in favour of the AHV, almost 23 per cent more than in the previous year.
The Grand Casino Luzern Group wants to have its concession for Lucerne and the online casino renewed, as well as receive another concession for a casino in Valais. The Federal Council will decide on all licence applications in autumn 2023.
The directors said: “The good financial year makes it possible to double the ordinary dividend. At the request of the Board of Directors, the shareholders approved the distribution of a dividend of CHF 12 per registered share and profit participation certificate. To celebrate the 125th anniversary of Kursaal-Casino AG Lucerne, the Annual General Meeting also approved an anniversary dividend of CHF 3 per registered share and profit participation certificate.”
The Grand Casino Luzern Group is optimistic about the future. “The demand for a wide range of offers in an informal atmosphere, for events and for social meeting places remains strong. The company is well positioned in Lucerne as well as in the online world,” they added.
