By - 7 September 2018

Swiss gambling revenue was down in 2017 with lotteries and sports betting falling by 6.4 per cent and casinos falling by 1.3 per cent.

Information provided by the Federal Office of Justice confirmed that in 2017 lottery turnover reached CHF2.81bn, down from CHF2.99bn, the year before.

“After an exceptional year in 2016, during which a record jackpot of CHF 70m jackpot was won at the Swiss Lotto, where we recorded an excellent result for authorised lotteries and sports betting, the turnover returned to a lower level in 2017, the Offcie said. Of the CHF2.81bn of turnover generated, 1.87bn was redistributed to the players in the form of gains. GGR fell by 54m to 942m. This equates to a stake of CHF333 per inhabitant.
