The Netherlands – Holland Casino opts to delay official opening of Venlo to next spring

By - 18 November 2021

Holland Casino, in close consultation with the Limburg-Noord Safety Region and the municipality of Venlo, has decided to postpone the festive, official opening of its new location in Venlo to next spring.

The situation in Limburg hospitals and rising infection rates in the region are so serious that the company does not consider it appropriate to organize a large-scale opening on November 18. This new Holland Casino location has been open to the public since July 1. The establishment will of course remain open for regular visits with the corona admission ticket.

Erwin van Lambaart, CEO of Holland Casino, said:  “Many people have worked hard on the official opening of our new location. Of course our disappointment is great, but the health care and well-being of all people in the region is much more important. That is why we have decided to move our official opening to the spring of 2022.”

Due to a surging COVID-19 cases, the Dutch government has confirmed a partial lockdown until December 3 with a mandatory closing time for land-based casinos and slot halls of 6 p.m.

All guests must show a valid coronavirus entry pass, must wear face masks and must remain 1.5 meters apart from each other.
