The Netherlands – KSA warns against illegal gambling sites

By - 31 January 2022

The Dutch Gaming Authority has warned consumers that sites of illegal online gambling providers may soon no longer be accessible from the Netherlands. The Ksa therefore urgently advises to withdraw player funds from illegal providers.

The Ksa takes into account that illegal online providers, who are confronted with enforcement action in the short term, put their site on black. The Ksa welcomes that, but an additional effect may be that players can no longer access their credits and lose their money.

Since 1 October 2021, there has been a legal online offer. Consumers can therefore turn to reliable providers who offer fair play and pay attention to addiction prevention. The Ksa supervises this. This also includes strict action against illegal providers: after all, it must pay to have a license.

Earlier, the Ksa announced that it had selected 25 illegal websites for further investigation as part of the new enforcement policy. The number of websites that are being investigated further has now been expanded. The companies in question will soon hear that an investigation is underway against them and enforcement action is being taken. A number of illegal providers already ensured that they were no longer accessible from the Netherlands. Action is now being taken against sites that are still accessible. Consumers are therefore better off recovering their player funds; there are no guarantees that illegal providers will return money if they are no longer accessible from the Netherlands. The Ksa cannot mediate in this.”
