By - 2 April 2017

BtoBet’s Chief Production Officer, Vasilije Shkoro is to give a seminar on omni-channel technology at a two-day symposium, running from April 10 to 11, in the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The third Annual Sports Betting East Africa will bring together regulators, authorities, operators and international experts of the gaming industry to discuss strategies needed to profit from the rapid growth of the market in the country.

In the last 10 years, the gambling industry in Uganda has enjoyed a rapid increase in activity from casino gambling and national lotteries to new verticals like sports-betting and online betting. The Uganda government is now strengthening the regulation of the growing number of licensed gambling firms.
The growth of mobile use and the evolution of mobile devices is showing that change is underway making the area one of the most attractive for the mobile business. The country now has 44 per cent of mobile users gamble using their device, a steep rise over the last few years whilst 95 per cent of internet connections are made via mobile devices.

Despite the fact that the gaming market is principally land-based, the explosion of mobile users and the evolution of the mobile devices is making the Ugandan area one of the most attractive for mobile business.

BtoBet will attend the upcoming summit in Kampala and will also be speaking in a panel on 11th April, showing how to improve the gaming management, both mobile and land-based, with a clever.
Mr. Shkoro said:“The promising signs concerning the growing potential of mobile gaming in Africa are clear indication for land-based retailers that their next step is to move from shop to mobile and online. BtoBet’s omnichannel platform and software technology enables African licensees to manage player data and gambling related business anywhere, no matter the channel.”

Yudi Soetjiptadi, the Project Director of the event, added: “The African continent is projected to become the largest market opportunity for the gaming industry over the next five years. This is the only dedicated sports betting conference in Africa where we focus on the latest opportunities, trends and strategies in this niche area.”

The conference will also focus on the impact of the recently enacted Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2016 which seeks to reform and consolidate legislation on lotteries, gaming, betting and casino activities.
Manzi Tumubweine, the Chairman, National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board says the new law will become fully operational this year and reasons that it’s aiming at having ‘serious’ operators.
“We are slowly but steadily strengthening the regulations. The aim is to have fewer but serious operators who are willing to stick to the letter of the law and serve Ugandans better,” he said.
