UK – Authority launches merger inquiry into Evolution Gaming’s NetEnt acquisition

By - 22 September 2020

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is considering whether Evolution Gaming’s planned takeover of NetEnt will result in a substantial lessening of competition within the UK market.

In June, NetEnt’s board of directors recommended the takeover bid that values all shares in the firm to approximately SEK 19.6bn ($2.2bn).

To assist with the assessment, the CMA is inviting comments on the transaction from any interested party.

The regulator said comments on the deal from any interested party can be filed by October 5 with the first phase inquiry deadline set for November 19.
