UK – Broadway Casino in Birmingham placed into administration

By - 14 February 2023

UK casino group Clockfair Limited has placed its Broadway Casino in Birmingham in the Midlands into administration due to low visitation since the pandemic.

At the start of the month, Clockfair appointed Matthew Ingram and Elizabeth Welch as joint administrators from risk and financial advisory solutions firm Kroll.

The number of redundancies made has not yet been revealed by administrators, but the casino employed just over 100 people.

Kroll said: “The casino was forced to close its doors during the Covid 19 Pandemic, in accordance with Government guidelines, which had an immediate impact on its finances. Customer footfall at the casino did not return to pre-Covid Pandemic levels impacting on its working capital and ability to pay its debts.”

Administrators had hoped to find a sale for the business and its assets through an accelerated merger and acquisition process but no suitors came forward. The casino stopped trading at the end of December 2022.
