UK – Double Diamond snaps up four casinos

Double Diamond Gaming, the operator behind the Rainbow Casino in Birmingham, has snapped up the remaining casino assets of Gala Coral Group bringing four properties into its portfolio.
Diamond will take control of casinos in Aberdeen, Bristol, Cardiff and Teesside as well as the as of yet undeveloped licence in Dundee.
The four venues were omitted from the sale of 19 casinos to the Rank Group in May due to issues of competition.
Double Diamond Managing Director Duncan Savage said: “We are delighted to have worked with Gala Coral to conclude this transaction. The acquisition is a continuation of our strategy to build a high-quality casino group in the UK. It builds on the success of our acquisition and relaunch of the Rainbow Casino in 2010 and we look forward to re-launching the casinos under the Rainbow brand over the Christmas period.”
Gala chief executive Carl Leaver added: “This transaction concludes the exit of our casino interests in the UK and is a continuation of our strategy to focus on growing our core operations.”
