UK – GamCare shortlisted for Howard League Community Award

By - 17 October 2022

For the second time, GamCare has been nominated in the ‘Organisation of the Year’ category for our work across the Criminal Justice System.

This category looks for an organisation “making a real difference in the field by striving to divert people from the Criminal Justice System”. Our Criminal Justice programme does this through training delivery, external events and test & learn pilots.

The Howard League for Penal Reform annual Community Awards are designed to recognise the country’s most successful community projects addressing issues which affect people across the Criminal Justice System (CJS). These projects help to keep people out of the CJS by providing alternative, proportionate, effective, and targeted interventions which will help reduce the risk of re-offending.

Chris Walker, Criminal Justice Programme Manager, said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award. I am incredibly proud of the work achieved by the Criminal Justice Programme and seeing the increased awareness of gambling-related harms and the support options within criminal justice services.”

Since winning the Organisation of the Year award in 2020, GamCare has been able to engage further with a wider pool of professionals in the field and bring more awareness to the topic.
