UK – Grosvenor Casinos deals a helping hand to more than 500 jobs seekers across the UK

By - 21 September 2022

More than 500 job seekers across the UK have been offered a helping hand to kick start their careers as an expert casino dealer by the nation’s largest casino operator, Grosvenor Casinos.

Grosvenor is running a series of gaming academies across twelve of its venues to help train talented local job seekers on how to become a croupier and lead some of its most popular casino games Blackjack, Poker and Roulette.

So far, more than 500 aspiring casino dealers are being put through their paces on the Grosvenor Casinos Gaming Academy programme with the offer of full-time employment if they qualify.

From learning casino terminology, the difference between odds and pay-outs, as well as the correct way to spin the roulette ball, the academies help applicants to learn how best to manage the fast-paced nature of bets placed by guests when they visit the casino.

Those taking part are also being tutored on the times tables up to thirty-five and receive tips and tricks on how to improve their dexterity when it comes to collecting and gathering bets and chips, to ensure they can deliver the best possible service in the quickest way possible.

As part of Grosvenor’s commitment to safer gambling, the academies also focus on safeguarding guests and educating team members about the importance of ensuring all guests always play responsibly.

Chun Hei Koo, a 29-year-old trainee from Cardiff, said: “I moved to the UK three months ago and decided to apply to the training programme as I thought this would be a great job opportunity for my future after having worked in a hotel for a couple of months.

“So far, our mentor has been fantastic, teaching us every casino game alongside the specific rules in detail, whilst letting us practise as much as possible to get used to all aspects of the job. I hope to start my career with the Grosvenor Casino here in Cardiff and cannot wait to see where this unique opportunity will lead me.”

Sue Price, Head of Table Gambling at Grosvenor Casinos, said: “We have a strong track record for providing training opportunities for the nation’s job seekers to upskill and join our team. A career as a casino dealer is a highly skilled profession which offers flexible working as well as the chance to travel and work all over the world.

“Taking place across a number of our casinos, we are determined to offer all applicants of the gaming academies the chance to work for Grosvenor Casinos and become part of the team.” Grosvenor Casinos is also carrying out a wider recruitment drive for job seekers across the country with a range of roles available to those looking for job opportunities.
