UK – IGT acquires iSoftBet

By - 19 April 2022

IGT’s PlayDigital content library will more than double to approximately 225 proprietary games after entering into a definitive agreement to acquire igaming content provider and third-party game aggregator, iSoftBet, for approximately €160m in cash.

The acquisition is expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2022, subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.

“The acquisition of iSoftBet will provide market-tested proprietary digital content, advanced game aggregation capabilities, scalable promotional tools, analytics and strong creative talent to IGT’s PlayDigital operations,” explained Vince Sadusky, IGT CEO.

“This will enhance PlayDigital’s competitive capabilities with a proven, complementary content portfolio across Europe and North America as we provide best-in-class games and technology to our fast-growing igaming customers.”

Last week saw IGT’s subsidiary, IGT Canada Solutions ULC, sign a contract with the Atlantic Lottery Corporation to provide 1,375 CrystalDual 27 video lottery terminals (VLTs) throughout the remainder of the year.

As part of the agreement, IGT will launch the VLTs with high-performing themes including The Wild Life, Big City 5’s, The Big Easy and Royal Spins Deluxe. Additionally, IGT will deploy The Price Is Right VLT content in 2023.

Inspired by North America’s highest-rated daytime television game show, The Price is Right is among the most recognisable brands in IGT’s game library.

“IGT has supplied engaging cabinets and content that have proven to entertain VLT players throughout Atlantic Canada for more than 30 years,” commented Patrick Daigle, ALC President and CEO.

“Expanding on the number of new VLTs in ALC’s gaming venues with popular IGT themes allows us to deliver on our promise of providing our players with the most compelling gaming experiences.”

“The versatility of IGT’s CrystalDual 27 VLT enables ALC to continue modernising its gaming offering and provides players with best-in-class, market-attuned content,” said David Flinn, IGT SVP, Canada, South and Central America.

“These 1,375 CrystalDual 27 units, in addition to the more than 350 that are already in the ALC market, reinforce our commitment to the Lottery’s growth, and elevate gaming within the region with highly successful hardware.”

IGT announced a broad patent cross-licensing agreement with Aristocrat that includes valuable patents related to game features and remote game server technologies.

Under the agreement, IGT will be able to offer licences to the companies’ combined game feature and RGS patent portfolios to the global gaming industry – financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

“This agreement extends and expands the previous patent cross-license between IGT and Aristocrat. This combination of two of the gaming industry’s most valuable game features and RGS patent portfolios can help propel the evolution of gaming with compelling content and advanced game mechanics,” remarked Renato Ascoli, IGT CEO Global Gaming.

“We look forward to providing the entire gaming industry with the opportunity to license IGT and Aristocrat patents, particularly the compelling content resulting from our combined RGS portfolios, in the spirit of competition and innovation.”

Alongside the aforementioned agreements, the company introduced its Infinity Instants games that have been created using multiple patented digital printing technologies to transform and enhance instant ticket design and gameplay.

The printing techniques are ‘unlike any others in the industry’ and produce games with high definition, richly coloured symbols and graphics on the front and back of a ticket, with ‘unparalleled’ scene variety and flexibility.

The company’s patented digital printing technology can be fully customised to enhance instant ticket player experience with high-resolution artwork and new playstyles.

“The technology behind Infinity Instants disrupts and revolutionises traditional instant ticket printing and endorses IGT’s commitment to delivering growth-driving, player-tested, innovative solutions for lotteries,” commented Jay Gendron, IGT Chief Operating Officer, Global Lottery.

“The digital preparation process of Infinity Instants allows for every element of the instant ticket to be fully customised, creating an infinite number of possibilities. This high level of detail generates opportunities for lotteries to engage players through more appealing graphics and enhanced playstyles.”

IGT Infinity Instants tickets are printed on a physical press but produced through a series of digital printing processes and technologies, allowing for flexibility for the design, production, and marketing of instant ticket games.

With Infinity Instants, the variable game symbols on instant tickets are generated in full colour at the highest known resolution in the industry. The digital production process also allows for every ticket in the pack to display unique artwork.

The Infinity Instants tickets have thus far launched in four U.S. lottery markets and have demonstrated strong performance.

A quiet week for IGT.
