UK – SG Gaming secures Lucasfilm exclusive

By - 16 September 2013

SG Gaming, a division of Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS), has launched its Star Wars A New Hope game to customers in the arcade, bingo and licensed betting shop sectors, after securing an exclusive licence from Lucasfilm.

The game follows the story line of the 1977 blockbuster movie and utilises instantly recognisable music from the original soundtrack. The games are feature-rich and include the Red 5 Bonus, Expanding Wild Bonus and the Milliennium Falcon Bonus, where players shoot Tie Fighters to accumulate cash. In bingo clubs and arcades, this can also trigger a £500 community bonus, one of the first in the sector. The licensed betting shop version includes an exclusive £20 High Roller game featuring the ‘Star Turn Bonus’, where players can multiply their winnings or gain entry in to one of the many other exciting bonuses.

Rick Mountney, Director of Content Development of SG Gaming, said, “Our in-house content development team has built up a very strong portfolio of home-grown titles such as Rainbow Riches and Arabian Charms and, while we continue to work hard to deliver our own innovative content, we are very excited to be able to create new games using well-established global brands. The ability to offer licensed content to customers across multiple sectors further strengthens our position as a leading content supplier. Using state-of-the-art graphics and original soundtrack elements, we’ve combined the Star Wars: A New Hope film with fully immersive and innovative gameplay, which should prove to be a big hit with players across all of our target sectors.”
