UK – SIS breaks new ground with Swedish Classics deal

SIS has agreed a deal with Swedish media rights holder Svensk Galopp to beam Swedish thoroughbred racing to the UK and Ireland for the first time.
The landmark deal will see the SIS Service broadcast 11 races from the inaugural meeting at the newly-built racecourse, Bro Park on Sunday 19 June, including the Swedish 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas.
The agreement will see SIS overlay Svensk Galopp’s live footage of this high profile meeting and provide English commentary, as well as a comprehensive race day betting service with fixed odds and full race card coverage in the Racing Post betting shop display.
UK and Irish operators SIS FACTS Service customers will enjoy thoroughbred racing from six different countries on 19 June, including top action from Germany, France, South Africa, Latin America, USA and Sweden.
The deal marks the first time SIS will broadcast any content from Sweden in the company’s three decades of operation.
Brent Dolan, Head Horse Racing Content, said: “We’re excited to bring this prestigious fixture of Swedish thoroughbred racing to our customers for the first time and, having never covered any type of horse racing from Sweden, we’re looking forward to customer feedback on the coverage of the Bro Park meeting and the interest it generates.”
Swedish thoroughbred racing has nearly 80 fixtures per annum, with Sunday racing throughout the year and midweek fixtures between April and November, with a minimum of nine races per fixture.
