Uruguay – Cipriani should open in 2025 says Mayor

The mayor of Maldonado, Enrique Antía, reported that the technical team that will carry out the work on the Cipriani Ocean Resort Residences have submitted the work plan to the Directorate General of Urban Planning.
In a press conference, when presenting the budget to the Departmental Board, the official announced that the director of Urban Planning, Soledad Laguarda, was very satisfied with the technical team so far.
“I have confirmation that the excavations have already begun and, according to the technicians who are in charge of the San Rafael project, in 2025 they will be inaugurating the hotel and casino,” Antía said.
“By 2025 they will also be making all the necessary concrete bases for the towers that accompany the project, because that is a treatment that they have to do from the start,” he said.
After several years of advances and setbacks, changes in plans and investors, work began on the iconic San Rafael hotel after the department of Maldonado gave the final go-ahead to the project by businessman Giuseppe Cipriani in December 2022.
Work began in January. The work requires about 1,000 workers to build some 80 rooms and more than 260 underground parking spaces. On the other hand, the towers will have more than 280 housing units, while the main tower will be the highest in South America, rising to a height of around 320 meters.
