US – Angel of the Winds starts $60m expansion
By Phil - 29 January 2018The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians, accompanied by management and team members of Angel Of The Winds Casino Resort, broke ground today on a $60-plus Million Xpansion in Arlington in the state of Washington.
They were joined by members of the local community, civic and business leaders, and media from throughout the Pacific Northwest on this momentous occasion. The casino resort provided over 400 shovels to all in attendance, ensuring everyone had a hand in breaking ground for this Xciting Xpansion project.
“The success of Angel Of The Winds over the past thirteen plus years is directly related to the wonderful team members and partnerships we have throughout the community, so we felt it only proper that we allow our neighbors and business partners to play a role in our groundbreaking event,” said Shawn Yanity, Chairman of The Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians. The Stillaguamish Tribe is the owner and operator of Angel Of The Winds Casino Resort. “We are proud of all that we have accomplished so far and look forward to continuing to share in our future successes that will be brought on from this Xciting Xpansion.”
The Xpansion will take 18 months to complete. When finished, it will add 275 slot machines and 12 gaming tables to the gaming area, as well as new restaurant and beverage outlets, entertainment and event facilities, and an enclosed parking garage for approximately 575 vehicles.
“Angel Of The Winds is proud to be the entertainment destination for so many here in the Pacific Northwest and for travelers from around the world,” said General Manager Travis O’Neil. “Our guests have really come to enjoy the friendly gaming and entertainment our team members deliver. This Xpansion will allow us to add a new level of Xcitement for our customers through unique amenities, while still maintaining our warm and welcoming atmosphere.”
In addition to the casino Xpansion, the property will add a 200-seat buffet and 60-seat steakhouse. A planned 8,500-square-foot, multi-purpose entertainment facility will house concerts, performances, conferences and private events. Rounding out the expansion will be an 8,500-square-foot bowling facility.
All of these new amenities come on the heels of some other recent additions to Angel Of The Winds Casino Resort over the past couple of years. 210 Brewing Co, Washington’s only tribally owned craft brewery, was launched in November 2015 featuring eight or more handcrafted beers on tap at any given time. November 2017 saw the opening of a new 4,500 square foot event space, utilized for corporate events, parties, and live entertainment. Finally, just a month ago in December 2017, 4,500 square feet of a dedicated non-smoking gaming area was opened, featuring 118 slots and 4 table games in a welcoming, enclosed, smoke-free addition to the gaming floor.
“We appreciate the confidence the Stillaguamish Tribe has placed in our management and team members, and the Tribe’s continued commitment to the local community,” said O’Neil. “This is an Xciting time in the property’s history, and the next step in the successful evolution of our casino resort.”
The 60-plus Million Xpansion marks the third major Xpansion since Angel Of The Winds opened in 2004. In December of 2008, the property opened 84,000 square feet of gaming space and dining options. Six years later in December of 2014, Angel Of The Winds completed a 100,000-square-foot hotel Xpansion that included 125 rooms and suites.
