US – Arizona sports betting brings in $451m in May

Bettors in Arizona wagered over $451m on sports in May of 2023, according to a new report by the Arizona Department of Gaming. This represents a 2.1 per cent decrease when compared to the same month of last year.
Arizona has seen over $2.8bn wagered through the first five months of 2023 and has surpassed $10.6 billion in total wagers placed since the inception of legal sports betting in 2021.
The state collected approximately $3.4m in privilege fees in May, resulting in nearly $50m in privilege fees collected since the start of legal operations.
Only FanDuel and DraftKings managed more than $100m in bets with FanDuel leading with $162.3m and DraftKings csecond with $130.4m.
BetMGM came third with $66.8m, while Caesars came in fourth place with $45.5m. Barstool Sportsbook generated $12m with Desert Diamond Mobile bringing in $10m.
In terms of retail betting, FanDuel’s location at the Footprint Center generated the most bets with $2.4m followed by Caesars’ $876,000 and BetMGM with $610,000.
