US – Atlantic City’s casinos post 15.3 per cent increase in January

Atlantic City’s casinos generated GGR of $211.6m from in-person gamblers in January, marking an increase of 15.3 per cent from the $183.6m generated in January 2022.

Only three of Atlantic City’s nine casinos generated more last month than they did in pre-pandemic January 2019. The Borgata generated $58.3m, an increase of 20.6 per cent from January 2022. Hard Rock generated $35.9m, up 3.4 per cent, the Ocean Casino Resort generated $30.5m, up 26.4 per cent, Harrah’s took $20.1m, up 15.9 per cent, Caesars won $16.8m, up five per cent, Tropicana generated $16.2m, up 11.9 per cent, Bally’s generated $11.5m, up 31.4 per cent, Resorts generated $11.1m, an increase of 20.1 per cent, and Golden Nugget won $10.9m, an increase of 5.6 per cent.

When revenue from internet gambling and sports betting is included, the casinos, horse tracks that take sports bets, and the online partners of both those types of businesses won $436.8 million, up 14.5% from a year ago.

For the month of January 2023, internet gaming win reported by casinos and their partners was $152.9m, reflecting growth of 10.9 per cent compared to $137.8m for the prior period.

Sports wagering gross revenue reported by casinos, racetracks, and their partners was $72.3m for January 2023, reflecting a 20.2 per cent increase when compared to $60.2m in the prior period.

Total gaming revenue reported by casinos, racetracks, and their partners was $436.9m for January 2023, reflecting a 14.5 per cent increase from $381.7m reported in January 2022.
