US – Caesars Danville provides tax of $1m for Danville in first two weeks

By - 19 June 2023

Caesars Entertainment’s temporary casino in Danville, Virginia, generated GGR of $11.9m in May, in its first two weeks.

The Danville city council will get $715,000 via a six per cent state tax with around $300,000 in additional revenue, totaling $1m in revenue for the city in the first two weeks.

Ken Larking, Danville city manager, said: “This two-week period is a grand opening, everyone’s excited, it’s new, and everybody wants to be there. That’s not going to be the way it performs throughout the next year, but it’s definitely on track and exceeded expectations.”

The 40,000-square-foot temporary casino boasts 740 slot machines, eight sports betting kiosks, 25 live table games, including blackjack, roulette and baccarat, 28 electronic table games of blackjack, roulette and crap, and will operate until the permanent Caesars Virginia opens in late 2024.

It is third casino in Virginia, after Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Temporary Bristol and Rivers Casino Portsmouth.
