US – Caesars’ shareholder Carl Icahn wants to push current owners to sell

By - 18 February 2019

Billionaire businessman Carl Icahn, who owns 10 per cent of Caesars Entertainment, wants the Las Vegas casino giant to consider selling itself.

Both Eldorado Resorts and Golden Nugget have made exploratory approaches for the operator, whose share price fell 45 per cent last year, in recent months.

Mr. Icahn believes that Caesars shareholders should decide if the company should be sold, rather than the board.
Having kicked back Golden Nugget’s approach in November, Caesars indicated it could be open to a sale.

Mr. Icahn has previously owned other casino properties including the Sands Atlantic City in New Jersey and Stratosphere in Las Vegas. He still owns Atlantic City’s Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, which has been closed since 2014.
